I did not know which one to buy - so I decided to build my own one which plays all the fantastic games.

Xamadu Pinball

I played pinballs since I was 10 and always dreamt about buying one. Now after I had the possibilities and saved some money I was not able to make a decision - Which Pinball to buy?

I needed to find a solution and had this crazy idea to built one. A special one who can play all pinballs

The top layer needs three frame parts. In the center of the top layer is the cooking area which needs sand to insulate the heat from the concrete.  I use the styrofoam to space out the cooking area, this part will not be filled with concrete.

As a next part, I prepared the foundation and the base for the oven. To make it safe for the Michigan winter I dug three 3" deep by half a feet stripe into the ground. Put rebar into it and filled it with concrete. Than rebar on the top and filled it with concrete and leveled it out.

Now ready to build the oven structure, as you see I use concrete blocks 8-in x 8-in x 16-in, you find these and the concrete as well the mixing machine at your local hardware store.

After the base structure was built and the concrete settled the top layers are placed and installed. T made the frames a little bit to thick, so the concrete slabs were heavy and I need to use my engine crane to lift them in place.

Now the fun part starts, mortar the bricks around the form and build the oven.

After that, I was ready to build the bricklayer and the cooking area. As you can see the white bricks are fire bricks which can hold the heat and will not crack when the oven is heated.
Important is to layer the firebricks for the cooking surface in a fishbone structure. This makes it later possible to slide a pizza in and out without hitting a brick as the structure supports a smooth sliding.

Finally, the built of the oven dom can start. This is an easy process as the form will help you to place brick by brick around it and magically the dome gets built. The same way like in the old times these brick ovens where built.

After the bricks the oven has o be covered in a fiber blanket (white). The fiber blanket keeps the heat in the oven. Around the fiber blanket is a chicken wire to hold the blanket but to as well let the concrete stick to the blanket and cover it.

The last step is then to burn the oven in. This is a slow process, make a small fire first as there is still also after drying, water in the bricks and concrete. Use your time in the burning in the process, as to much heat can create cracks in the bricks or mortar. The last step is to cover the oven with a weather resistant finish and invite your friends for the first pizza or bread.
